Feefam-Beeman started as a couple of hives in an Airport West backyard and has grown box by box since. What began as a way to keep a few jars on hand for family turned into a proper apiary once the hobby got out of hand — in the best way.
The hives have since outgrown that first backyard, and the operation is now based in Diggers Rest.
Every frame is still lifted, checked, and uncapped by hand. There's no bulk importing and no shortcuts — if a hive is struggling, it gets attention before it gets harvested.
We keep our colonies across Melbourne's western suburbs, moving hives to follow the season's flowering gums, canola, and clover, so every batch tastes a little different depending on when it was pulled and what was in bloom.
New equipment gets built and painted in the shed between seasons — and a good share of our hives started life as a swarm or removal somewhere else.
